Villaware Moderno Prima

The Villaware Moderno Prima coffee maker is certaily a beast to be reckoned with. I have had the opportunity to use several different coffee makers in the past and , whilst some were good, others were lacking in many respects. Not this beauty!

It is a heavy machine. It feels solid and reassuring. I like things like that - so many products are manufactured to a poor standard these days. What's more - it looks a beauty. It is stylish, compact and modern - hence the name. It outshines anything in my kitchen.

Another independent review:  Okay i will be honest. I am a big espresso, cappuccino, latte, tea drinker who spends average of $30 daily at starbucks. My francisfrancis! X1 broke a couple of months ago and i was looking for something almost equal to replace it. I am from Europe and grew up on good coffee, espresso and cappuccino. I ordered this machine just because I used to own a pasta maker by Villaware. It was outstanding. Therefore i wanted to give this one a try. I received my box earlier this evening and prepared my first shot. it was excellent. The crema on the top was smooth enough to retain the sugar inside slowly.. Its heavy and solid and produces and great foam. (15 bar ) It looks like my francis , hopefully it will last longer than it did. It also comes with a box of Illy pods. Great deal, you will not regret. 
 

Everything else about the machine astounds. A good strong and dependable pump, a good head of steam and not too noisy.yes, I agree that the coffee quality is better on some other machines, but this product isn't pretending to be top of the range.

I would say this coffee machine is reliable and produces reproducible results. It is interesting that many people blame the Moderno for making substandard coffee. This is certainly not the case in my opinion. Even more expensive machhines will be hard pushed to match the quality it produces. That is not to say it is the best ever - that would be a hard task.

The other thing which I find important is how robust a machine is. Other machines that I have had can fail after a while - especially with the amount of coffee I and my family drink! So far, this machine has stayed the course. Long may it last.

I have read many other reviews of the Villaware Moderno espresso maker - some good and some bad. I'm with the good ones. A "nine out of ten" from me.
