What Makes a Good Tasting Cup Of Coffee?

What makes a good tasting cup of coffee? The answer is whatever you want! There is so much talk about it that you can be forgiven for thinking that coffee appreciation is only for connoisseurs. It isn’t.

Think. Have you ever walked around an art gallery with a partner or friend? Inevitably you will come across paintings and exhibits that you both feel are not worthy of inclusion. At other times there will be items on display that tickle the fancy of both of you.

But just sometimes there will be exhibits that one of you likes but the other detests and vice versa. It’s confusing but we accept it.

Well, the same sort of process happens with coffee. Certain cups or brews have that smooth, satisfying taste whilst others are bitter and unpalatable. But you will occasionally come across a blend or flavor that you like but others abhor. You will not understand the whys and wherefores but it will happen.

And you know what? Others will LOVE some of the blends that you think are bitter and fit only for the bin. A friend of mine makes coffee that I simply cannot stand. I almost stop visiting because of this. Crazy, I know.

But, it’s human nature to have preferences and ideals. It is this that is responsible for the huge range of coffee varieties available - and that is before we consider the brewing variability, and preparation techniques.

So, stop thinking about it and just drink the coffee blends that you love. Life is too short to become snobby.
